In most cases it is car enthusiasts who opt for a paint finish with an Exclusive Line effect paint from Standox. However, the fan base is also growing outside the automotive world.

In the courtyard of the Vannerum bodyshop in Zellik, Belgium (near Brussels), it’s not an out-of-the-ordinary car that serves as an eye-catcher, but a helicopter. It belongs to General Manager Marc Vannerum who purchased it a few months ago and converted it into a flight of fantasy with a flashy Red Rocket finish. The newly painted surface reflects and refracts the sunlight into a variety of different colours. Depending on the angle of view, the spectrum extends from copper via fiery red to almost black.
The Exclusive Line consists of premium paints in selected special colours that achieve their effects with special pigments that strongly refract the light. Unlike automotive finishes however, repair and other paint finishes on helicopters and planes are subject to stricter regulations. Much like on Formula 1 race cars, the paint finish may affect the weight and hence the range of a tank filling. This is why the machines are weighed before and after application and are subjected to close official inspection. “Crazy as it may seem, anything that may have a bearing on safety goes into the equation,” says Marc Vannerum. “The weight is important, which is why we’ve attempted to apply the paint as sparingly as possible. I’m very satisfied with the result.”
Standox waterborne paints receive highest acclaim in Dubai
It sounds like a Tale from the Arabian Nights, but a modern one. Despite the current global economic situation, the Emirate of Dubai ranks among the world’s fastest-growing economic regions. Its pulsating economy and its modern skyline that has shot up in little more than 30 years make the emirate the “Manhattan of the 21st century”. In construction and in the transport sector, the ruling Al Maktoum family and its government have gone for sustainable development in prudently guiding the sheikhdom into a positive future.

This social responsibility finds expression in a special award that Standox and the Arabian Automobiles Company have now jointly received. His Highness, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, personally awarded Arabian Automobiles the renowned Dubai Prize for Sustainable Transport Development for its use of the Standohyd waterborne paint system. The prize commends the pioneering role of Arabian Automobiles. The company is the first in the United Arab Emirates to comply with the strictest global environmental guidelines, such as European environmental legislation. This has been made possible by Polimar, the successful Standox dealer in the region, thanks to its support in the changeover to Standox waterborne paints.
